Description: Son of brilliant military strategist Guido da Montefeltro, Bonconte played a prominent role in the expulsion of the Guelfs from Arezzo in 1287 and defeat of Sienese troops one year later. His army was defeated by Florentine Guelfs at the Battle of Campaldino. As his body was not found after the battle, Dante creates this story of his death and conversion.
